LittleBigPlanet 2. What to Expect.

LittleBigPlanet was released on the 5th of November 2008 to critical acclaim. Over 2 years later, the much-anticipated sequel has almost been released. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming puzzle platformer game, LittleBigPlanet 2.

LittleBigPlanet 2 has you continue the story of Sackboy, picking up after the events of the original LittleBigPlanet and the PSP version of LBP. An inter-dimensional vacuum cleaner appears over the skies of LittleBigPlanet and begins to suck up its inhabitants, including Sackboy. Larry Da Vinci, leader of a group called “The Alliance” comes to save Sackboy from what he calls “The Negativitron”. You find out that “The Alliance” is committed to stopping “The Negativitron” before it completely destroys Craftworld.

LBP2 is more of the same that PlayStation owners have come to expect from Media Molecule’s, but with even more enjoyment. Previously all LBP levels were Platformers but now Media Molecule added a whole bunch of extra genre’s to LBP’s list, adding Racing, Puzzle and RPG level types. You can also now edit the HUD in your games and add in cutscenes to your levels as well. You can link together a string of levels, and edit the soundtrack for the levels.

A New tool has been added, it’s called the “controllinator” which allows users to assign specific actions to specific parts of the gameplay’s design. The Controllinator can also be used on Sackboy as well. 2 more “inator” items have been added to the list of new things as well. The Creatinator allows you to configure it to fire out different objects and the Grabinator allows Sackboy to pick up and throw any grabable objects.

Enemy Creation is yet another improved tool in LBP 2. Players now have the ability to create AI controlled NPC’s called Sackbots. Options for the sackbots include determining weak points and programming in routines for the AI to follow. Oh and one last thing about updates, any DLC you have from the original LBP is able to be used in the sequel.

A new website has been created to aid the online community called This site records statistics, hosts a way to find new levels to play and allows you to queue up levels to be downloaded when you next turn on your PS3.

Sackboy is ready and waiting now for you to play your new copy of LittleBigPlanet 2 from as early as 21st January 2011.
