E3 2011: The future of Halo

Microsoft’s press conference brought a group of gamers (me and MintagedVortex included) a few new games to look forward to. These games are of course part of the Halo series, a particular series you may remember I am quite passionate about.Namely these 2 games are Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo 4.

Halo: Combat Evolved is of course the very first game in the franchise that helped redefine the FPS genre, and 10 years after it’s release, on November 15th 2001, the anniversary edition shall be released on to the Xbox 360. With remastered graphics and running on an updated engine it looks to be a must have for fans of the series. It features remastered multiplayer maps for Reach’s multiplayer, one of which has been adapted for firefight, a completely remastered Campaign and the interesting function of being able to click a button and play the campaign as it was back in the day. The announcement trailer is shown below.

Halo 4 is 343 industries first real Halo project and is apparently the start of a new trilogy. Not much has been released about Halo 4 apart from the trailer, which quite clearly tells us it will once again star Master Chief and Cortana. It’s due for release in 2012 so this could be one to watch, especially to see if 343 can live up to Bungie’s legacy. Here is the announcement trailer below.
